On this page, you will find out the best talents for your Feral Druid in World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.5. We also have default talent builds for various types of content, such as raiding or Mythic+. If you play with Warmode on, we have your PvP talents covered as well.

1.

Best Talents for Feral Druid in Midnight

In Midnight, Feral still has a similar Hero Tree split, with one leaning more toward single-target and the other in AoE. The Apex Talent, Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator, also sees use in all builds to enhance finisher damage. These are the current recommendations depending on content.

  • Raid - Wildstalker provides very strong single-target, using its strong DoT effects amplified by Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator, so is the recommended choice.
  • Mythic+ - Druid of the Claw still remains the stronger Mythic+ pick, though it's slightly closer than before. The extra defense and ease of use gives it the advantage.

Both Hero Talents have their niche, largely due to the other talents they encourage on the Feral tree. The split between Bleeds for Wildstalker and Ferocious Bite Icon Ferocious Bite for Druid of the Claw does influence how they build though, and varies the damage profiles they lean into. Below we have some important codes if you want to jump straight in-game:

Wildstalker Raid Talents

In Midnight, Wildstalker's talent package and interactions with stronger talents on the spec tree give it the edge in single-target scenarios. In particular the bonus Rip Icon Rip damage provided by Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator helps amplify its DoT-centric playstyle, and as such is the recommended choice currently.

1.2.

Wildstalker Mythic+ Talents

Wildstalker is improved in Midnight, but it has to make some sacrifices to work in both single-target and AoE, which limits it more than its competitor. While it does get good value out of the Apex Talent, Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator, it's not enough to make up for what is lost when grabbing AoE options.

1.3.

Wildstalker Delve Talents

While weaker in Delves due to the erratic combat time and large amount of unimportant enemies, Wildstalker can still be a reasonable choice due to its simplicity. It still packs a similar punch with burst damage, but the lower defense and higher investment into damage over time effects make it the weaker choice.

1.4.

Druid of the Claw Raid Talents

In Midnight, Druid of the Claw is capable of dealing good damage, in particular through burst cooldowns using Convoke the Spirits Icon Convoke the Spirits, Berserk Icon Berserk and Focused Frenzy Icon Focused Frenzy. Its slightly weaker interactions with the Apex Talent, Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator, alongside Ferocious Bite Icon Ferocious Bite being less impactful currently, puts it slightly behind its competitor.

1.5.

Druid of the Claw Mythic+ Talents

In Midnight, Druid of the Claw remains the better pick both due to its better time hybridizing between single-target and AoE, and easier execution. Pair that with the extra defensive benefits it brings, and it stays our recommended choice going into Season 1.

1.6.

Druid of the Claw Delve Talents

Druid of the Claw really shines in Delves due to the massive amount of extra survival and on-demand burst AoE the tree provides. Pair that with extra benefits from dropping combat and a reliable burst profile, and you have a spec that can handle anything even the most dangerous Delves can throw at you.

In single-target, Wildstalker still maintains a focus on DoT effects and Bleeds. As such, it makes sure to pick up as many enhancing effects as possible - especially Circle of Life and Death Icon Circle of Life and Death. It picks up the entire suite of Berserk Icon Berserk talents, pairing it with Convoke the Spirits Icon Convoke the Spirits and Ashamane's Guidance Icon Ashamane's Guidance, giving it powerful 1-minute and 2-minute burst. It also Lunar Inspiration Icon Lunar Inspiration for a third DoT, and Focused Frenzy Icon Focused Frenzy for on demand damage every 30 seconds with Tiger's Fury Icon Tiger's Fury. Finally, it invests all four points into the Apex Talent, Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator.

Wildstalker suffers a bit from having to switch out of its single-target tools, but can still deliver solid damage. It always makes sure to take both Primal Wrath Icon Primal Wrath and Rampant Ferocity Icon Rampant Ferocity to convert spenders into AoE, while picking up Double-Clawed Rake Icon Double-Clawed Rake to apply DoTs easier. Both Berserk Icon Berserk and Convoke the Spirits Icon Convoke the Spirits are taken for longer cooldowns, while Feral Frenzy Icon Feral Frenzy and Frantic Frenzy Icon Frantic Frenzy are also picked up for mid-range burst. It also leans on the new Hunger for Battle Icon Hunger for Battle to sustain Energy between pulls. Finally, it invests all four points into the Apex Talent, Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator.

In single-target, Druid of the Claw makes sure to pick up as many talents that enhance Ferocious Bite Icon Ferocious Bite as possible - in particular Saber Jaws Icon Saber Jaws. One exception is Apex Predator's Craving Icon Apex Predator's Craving, which actually interferes with the power of Ravage Icon Ravage procs. It makes sure to pick up the entire suite of Berserk Icon Berserk talents and pairs them with Convoke the Spirits Icon Convoke the Spirits for burst. At the bottom, it also picks both Focused Frenzy Icon Focused Frenzy and Chomp Icon Chomp, enhancing them with Tear Down the Mighty Icon Tear Down the Mighty. Finally, it invests all four points into the Apex Talent, Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator.

Druid of the Claw follows similar build goals in Midnight as it did previously. It makes sure to switch some single-target points over to both Primal Wrath Icon Primal Wrath and Rampant Ferocity Icon Rampant Ferocity to convert Ferocious Bite Icon Ferocious Bite to AoE, while taking Wild Slashes Icon Wild Slashes to amplify Swipe Icon Swipe as an AoE builder. Hunger for Battle Icon Hunger for Battle is a key new pick, providing both more damage and smoother Energy management throughout a dungeon. It also picks up both the Berserk Icon Berserk and Convoke the Spirits Icon Convoke the Spirits for cooldowns, while shifting to Frantic Frenzy Icon Frantic Frenzy to convert Feral Frenzy Icon Feral Frenzy into AoE. Finally, it invests all four points into the Apex Talent, Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator.

The builds listed above are popular recommendations, covering various different loadouts suited to each style of endgame content. Each Talent Build will have it's own rotation, and can also be manipulated further for specific types of content and to better benefit your group.

Apex Talent: Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator

The Feral Apex Talent, Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator, focuses on adding additional damage to your finisher casts. These add even more incentive to cycle your resources correctly, and are used in all builds currently:

  • Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator first point - Ferocious Bite Icon Ferocious Bite has a 15% chance per Combo Point spent to trigger either Unseen Slash Icon Unseen Slash or Unseen Swipe Icon Unseen Swipe, depending on targets nearby. Deals reduced damage if less than 5 Combo Points and 50 Energy was spent to trigger it.
  • Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator second and third point - increases all damage you deal by 7.5% per point for 1 second per Combo Point spent when an Unseen Attack is triggered via Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator. Extra attacks will extend the duration.
  • Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator fourth point - increases all Rip Icon Rip damage you deal by 30%. Additionally, casting Tiger's Fury Icon Tiger's Fury will cause your next two Combo Point generating attacks to trigger an Unseen Attack at maximum strength.

The entire package is quite strong, buffing finishers both through the bonus damage, the DoT amplification of Rip Icon Rip, and the follow-up buffs granted by Unseen Predator Icon Unseen Predator. Since the effect mostly happens from normal gameplay, they simply act as pure throughput increases both in single-target and AoE, with universal benefits for both Wildstalker and Druid of the Claw.

3.

Hero Talents

Feral has two Hero Talent choices that lean into different aspects of its core playstyle, and alter your gameplay goals depending on which you pick. These two Hero Talents are Druid of the Claw and Wildstalker.

3.1.

Druid of the Claw

This tree grants access to Ravage Icon Ravage, which is triggered via auto-attacks, massively empowering your next Ferocious Bite Icon Ferocious Bite. Specific mechanics are:

  • Ravage Icon Ravage deals AoE damage, and is triggered via your auto-attack procs and during Berserk Icon Berserk via Claw Rampage Icon Claw Rampage.
  • Tear Down the Mighty Icon Tear Down the Mighty improves both Feral Frenzy Icon Feral Frenzy and Chomp Icon Chomp damage.

This positions Druid of the Claw as a more flexible option, bringing both extra cleave and burst. It also provides superior defensive benefits, improving both Bear Form Icon Bear Form and granting easier access to Frenzied Regeneration Icon Frenzied Regeneration.

3.2.

Wildstalker

Conversely, Wildstalker focuses heavily on DoT effects and Bleeds in the Feral toolkit. Most importantly, Bloodseeker Vines Icon Bloodseeker Vines will grow on targets affected by Rake Icon Rake and Rip Icon Rip, dealing Bleed damage and amplifying your other abilities. Some specific mechanics are:

  • Hunt Beneath the Open Skies Icon Hunt Beneath the Open Skies encourages Lunar Inspiration Icon Lunar Inspiration, leaning into a heavier DoT playstyle.
  • Bursting Growth Icon Bursting Growth causes additional AoE when you cast Ferocious Bite Icon Ferocious Bite on targets affected by Bloodseeker Vines Icon Bloodseeker Vines, providing additional benefits to your finishers.

Wildstalker is definitely more focused on single-target due to its heavy Bleed and DoT focus, and struggles a little more to hybridize. That said, it's very good at its speciality, and brings excellent burst as well once your debuffs are set up.

4.

PvP Talents (War Mode)

"War Mode" is an optional feature that enables open-world PvP encounters that confer some benefits when active:

  • Grants access to PvP talents in the open-world.
  • 10% increase in World Quest rewards at max level.
  • 10% more experience gained while leveling.
  • Earn Conquest Points, which can reward gear every week.

With the benefits of War Mode for leveling and PvE content, it is an optional way to maximize your leveling speed and reward potential. However, you will open yourself up to open-world PvP, so be aware of hostile enemy players who could interfere with you; this is a risk you will have to decide on your own if you want to take.

Generally, the selections are made to optimize your ability to kill enemies faster, increasing your pace when moving through content.

  1. Fresh Wound Icon Fresh Wound can provide additional burst to targets when applying your Rake Icon Rake effect, and is a solid increase across the board when cycling between targets.
  2. Ferocious Wound Icon Ferocious Wound provides additional damage to your Ferocious Bite Icon Ferocious Bite. Value is mostly tied to the difficulty of the enemies you are encountering, and is especially valuable against high health elites.
  3. Leader of the Pack Icon Leader of the Pack increases the movement speed of you and nearby allies by 10%, and causes players to heal for 3% of their maximum health when they critically strike with an 8-second cooldown. This provides some additional speed and sustain passively.
  4. Savage Momentum Icon Savage Momentum causes successful interrupts with Skull Bash Icon Skull Bash to reduce the cooldown of Tiger's Fury Icon Tiger's Fury, Stampeding Roar Icon Stampeding Roar and Survival Instincts Icon Survival Instincts by 10 seconds. This can be useful for moving around the world, and also provides extra burst windows.
  5. Thorns Icon Thorns can provide some use if in situations with extra enemies present, allowing you to deal additional damage back when being hit.

Freedom of the Herd Icon Freedom of the Herd, High Winds Icon High Winds, Malorne's Swiftness Icon Malorne's Swiftness, Wicked Claws Icon Wicked Claws, and Strength of the Wild Icon Strength of the Wild on the other hand have very limited PvE uses, being more focused on in-combat control and group assistance. These are geared instead toward PvP encounters, so are not recommended for open-world play.
