Leatherworking Guide for Midnight
This page covers the most important aspects of Leatherworking in Midnight, including talent builds and suggestions on how to make gold with the profession.
Leatherworking in Midnight
Leatherworking is still responsible for the creation of Leather and Mail armor,
including Embellished gear with special effects, such as
World Tender's Rootslippers.
They also craft optional reagents, such as
Blessed Pango Charm, reagents
like
Silvermoon Weapon Wrap, and new profession tools and accessories,
such as
Thalassian Alchemist's Mixcap.
It can also create House Decor and the
Bloodlust alternative
Void-Touched Drums,
as well as leg enchants for Agility and Strength users, such as the
Forest Hunter's Armor Kit.
Best Race for Leatherworking in Midnight
Alliance players can be Kul'Tiran for +2 skill points, but that is as far as Leatherworking racial bonuses go.
Best Crafting Stats for Leatherworking in Midnight
Leatherworking can make great use of all four stats, but you might want to focus on specific stats with different Leatherworking specializations. We go into detail with Leatherworking stats and the gear you can use to boost them in the specialized guide below:
Leveling Leatherworking in Midnight
Increasing your skill is done by crafting items that grant skill points as usual, and in order to be efficient, we recommend trying to get as many first-craft bonuses while leveling as possible, which also grant experience if you are not at maximum level.
Besides learning basic recipes from the trainer, you can also learn extra recipes beyond the profession trainer by buying them with Moxie from reputation vendors and the vendor next to the profession table in Silvermoon. These will grant more first crafts and can occasionally be the most efficient way to level in the later levels.
How to Level Leatherworking in Midnight
Leveling Leatherworking to 67 Skill
As with most professions, getting to skill 67 can easily be done through trainer
recipes, with the remaining skill points being awarded by specialty crafts such
as
Forest Hunter's Armor Kit,
Silvermoon Agent's Deflectors, and
Thalassian Alchemist's Mixcap which you should do based on your choice of
profession talents.
In order to quickly level up uninterrupted, ensure you have the following materials:
- 30
Silverleaf Thread - 930
Void-Tempered Leather - 465
Void-Tempered Scales - 4
Carving Canine - 2
Peerless Plumage
Craft the following items to skill 67, taking into account that a few more
Smuggler's Reinforced Hood might be required as the final skill gains are
not guaranteed:
- 3
Smuggler's Leather Wristbands - 2
Smuggler's Leather Footpads - 2
Smuggler's Leather Tunic - 3
Smuggler's Reinforced Binding - 2
Smuggler's Reinforced Gloves - 3
Apprentice Jeweler's Apron - 3
Smuggler's Reinforced Shoulderguards - 8
Smuggler's Reinforced Hood
While you can start crafting end game recipes earlier instead of relying on the Leatherworking trainer, these will generally be more efficient to craft towards the end of your leveling once regular trainer recipes stop giving reliable skill points, as they are expensive to produce and will generally only turn a profit when crafted at maximum rank with Concentration.
Leveling Leatherworking Past 67 Skill
Getting past Skill 67 will then vary heavily depending on which Profession talents you invest into with your Leatherworking Knowledge. Since skill-ups are more RNG as you get closer to 100 Leatherworking Skill, we recommend checking the Auction House or using one of our recommended crafting Addons to help you skill up without it eating into your wallet too much.
Thankfully the process isn't too difficult, as you can craft the same type of items all the way to 100, depending on your specialization. We recommend using the following families of recipes:
- Consumable Master:
Forest Hunter's Armor Kit and other epic leg enchants are the best
options as they grant skill all the way to 100 and sell well, but you can also
get some of the way with embellishments such as
Blessed Pango Charm.
- Combat Gear Master:
- Combat gear such as
Silvermoon Agent's Deflectors and other epic leather
and mail gear is often in demand and grants a large amount of skill points all
the way to 100, but can be hard to get in quantity due to requiring Spark usage
and the work order system.
- Combat gear such as
- Profession Gear Master:
- Leatherworking can also craft gear for other professions, ranging from rare
gear that can be sold on the auction house profitably, such as
Sin'dorei Alchemist's Hat,
to epic gear that is bind on pickup such as
Thalassian Alchemist's Mixcap,
which requires the work order system.
- Leatherworking can also craft gear for other professions, ranging from rare
gear that can be sold on the auction house profitably, such as
Leatherworking Knowledge in Midnight
You will be able to track all weekly and one-time sources of profession knowledge with Myu's Knowledge Points Tracker, which has been converted to an addon in Midnight!
There are also eight treasures around the world that you can loot to gain up to 24 extra knowledge. You can find them all easily in-game with the aforementioned addon.
Best Leatherworking Specializations and Talents in Midnight
The best specialization for you depends on what your goals are, but no matter what specialization you choose, you will always want to complement it with the high general stat boosts of Learned Leatherworker and its sub-trees, which also increase the efficiency of your Concentration usage.
Leather gear crafters will want to go into the Lasting Leather
tree to learn all the generic epic patterns, such as
Silvermoon Agent's Sneakers
and maximize their skill with them, while Mail gear crafters will go into
the Safeguarding Scales tree instead, for recipes such as
Farstrider's Razor Talons
and extra skill when doing them.
Finally, the Flawless Fortes tree boosts skill and stats with the rest of your crafts and enables you to craft better profession gear, leg enchants, reagents, and optional reagents with its multiple sub-nodes.
Making Gold with Leatherworking in Midnight
Leatherworking allows you to convert cheap leathers and scales into expensive gear, leg enchants, and other crafts. High-end gear pieces are likely to fetch a good price in the Crafting Orders system, provided you can find customers willing to give good commission fees.
Until you fully max out skill, gear, and knowledge for your desired crafts, you will be reliant on Concentration to get maximum ranks out, which can quickly be exhausted every day, so make sure to create some alts to increase your production cap while it is still very profitable to do so! Even later on those can still be useful as they will be able to create maximum rank items more cheaply than the guaranteed method, which requires full maximum Rank reagents.
We have a specialized guide for Midnight gold-making below, which contains a gold-making tier list and goes deeper into techniques and habits for successful gold making, as well as websites and addons that can help you on your journey!
