On this page, you will find out the optimal stat priority for your Discipline Priest. We first present the stat priority, before delving into more complex explanations on how the stats interact with your specialization and gameplay. Our content is updated for World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.5.

1.

Discipline Priest Stat Priority

All of our secondary stats are very close in value. Due to the scaling of Intellect on gear as well as the closeness of the secondary stat values, targeting the highest item level possible is the recommended play in terms of gearing.

In-Depth Stat Breakdown

Intellect is your primary stat. Ensure that all gear you are wearing (except for trinkets and jewelry) have intellect on them as every point of Intellect will increase your the power of your damage and healing.

Haste reduces the cast time of your spells, reduces the cooldown of Power Word: Shield Icon Power Word: Shield, Mind Blast Icon Mind Blast, and Penance Icon Penance, reduces your global cooldown and more. Moreover, it increases the number of attacks your Shadowfiend Icon Shadowfiend/Mindbender Icon Mindbender can make, and the number of ticks from Shadow Word: Pain Icon Shadow Word: Pain.

Mastery (Mastery: Grace Icon Mastery: Grace) increases your healing on Atonement targets. Please note that this DOES work with your Atonement healing and not just your direct healing.

Critical Strike grants your damaging spells and heals a chance to double their value. That said, it is worth noting that it does not double-dip with regards to Atonement Icon Atonement healing (Atonement heals cannot be critical hits; they only heal for the amount of damage that was done, which is the only portion that can be a critical strike).

Versatility is a simple damage and healing done increase. Additionally, however, it does also provide a small damage taken reduction as well.

Leech grants you self-healing based on your outgoing damage and healing events. This free self-sustain can reduce the amount of Mana and global cooldowns you and the other healers have to spend healing you during major damage events, allowing you to focus more on the people that need it. Due to this stat being a tertiary stat instead of a secondary stat, it is not going to be found very often but will remain powerful when it is.

2.1.

Diminishing Returns on Stats

Every stat has a limit where they will begin to offer less increase per point gained, which are known as the points of diminishing return. Once you have reached these amounts, stats will become progressively less valuable and may fall behind other options. The current breakpoints are:

Stat 10% DR Rating 20% DR Rating 30% DR Rating
Mastery 1380 1840 2300
Critical Strike 1380 1840 2300
Haste 1320 1760 2200
Versatility 1620 2160 2700
