Best in Slot Gear Guide for Discipline Priest

Welcome to our Gear and BiS Page for Discipline Priest. Check this page to learn everything you need to know about gearing a Discipline Priest, including the BiS Gear from all sources, Raiding, and Mythic+, information on the best Trinkets, Tier Sets, and much more.

Upgrading gear in Midnight continues to use the Crest system which lets you increase the item level of gear along tracks that relate to where you obtained the item, which harder content dropping gear that can be upgraded to higher Item Levels. For more information, read up on our dedicated page on how the gearing system works and what has changed in the Midnight expansion.

OverallMythic+Raid

This list contains the Best in Slot Gear for Discipline Priest in Midnight Season 1. Keep in mind that there are plenty of other pieces of gear that will be within a margin of error to the ones provided here as well as the inclusion of any tertiary stats can throw off the entire recommendation, but this list is a good starting point/target for what you should be looking for.

FAQWhich Tier Set Pieces Do I Want?
For Midnight Season 1 as an Discipline Priest, you have a Best in Slot goal and a realistic progression goal for tier slots. A true best in slot scenario will result in you wearing Robes of Endless Oblivion Icon Robes of Endless Oblivion from the final boss of March on Quel'Danas. However, because this piece is impossible to get at a Mythic item level until progression is over, the recommendation for progression is a bit different. Early on, we recommend utilizing the tier Helmet, Chest, Gloves, and Legs with the shoulders as your off piece.

Ascendant and Nebulous Voidcores (Bonus Rolls)

With the addition of patch 12.0.5, two new systems for gear progression have been introduced:

  • Nebulous Voidcore Icon Nebulous Voidcore's can be utilized to roll for bonus pieces of loot from Raid bosses or dungeons. You will receive two of these per week and it will cost both to roll on a Raid boss or only one to roll on a specific dungeon's loot table. Which item you will receive from the location you utilize these will be random, but once you get a specific item from that loot table you will not receive it again. As a result, it may take a handful of weeks/attempts to get the specific item you want, but you are eventually guaranteed to get it with enough attempts.
  • Ascendant Voidcore Icon Ascendant Voidcore's can be utilized to upgrade your existing Weapon's and Trinkets' item level. This is similar to previous season's Turbo Boost item level upgrades, except this is limited to just weapons and trinkets instead of a boost to every item.

3.1.

The recommendation for using Nebulous Voidcore Icon Nebulous Voidcore will change heavily based on the gear you currently have through killing a boss or the Great Vault. Additionally, if you don't expect to kill certain Mythic bosses, then this will also impact your recommendations. Our general priority will be as follows:

Voidcore (Bonus Roll) Priority
  1. Mythic Vaelgor's Final Stare Icon Vaelgor's Final Stare (If you are focusing on Raid)
  2. Mythic Litany of Lightblind Wrath Icon Litany of Lightblind Wrath (If you are focusing on M+)
  3. Mythic Gaze of the Alnseer Icon Gaze of the Alnseer
  4. Very Rare Jewelry if you can access them on Mythic track (Eye of Midnight Icon Eye of Midnight from Midnight Falls and Eternal Voidsong Chain Icon Eternal Voidsong Chain from Crown of the Cosmos)
  5. Any remaining items from the BiS lists.
3.2.

Utilizing Ascendant Voidcores

Utilize your Ascendant Voidcores on your 2-handed weapon or main hand first. After that, if you are using a 1-handed weapon and offhand, upgrade your offhand after your main hand. After that, you can utilize these to upgrade your trinkets in any order.

4.

Crafted Gear and Embellishments for Discipline Priests

As your ability to craft early season is heavily time-gated by both your access to sparks and higher tier crests, you want to ensure your early crafts are high value. The largest slot budget wise is easily your weapon. As a result, your first four sparks should be going towards a 2-handed staff in the vast majority of cases.

Discipline Crafted Gear Priority
  • Aln'hara Cane Icon Aln'hara Cane with Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt
  • Any item with Arcanoweave Lining Icon Arcanoweave Lining on it.
  • Any item you do not have on Myth track yet

For more information about crafting gear you can visit our Professions page.

4.1.

Best Embellishments for Discipline Priest

Embellishments are special effects that are either found on crafted pieces by default or can be added to crafted pieces during the crafting process. A character can have two embellishments equipped at any time.

We are currently recommending crafting the following two embellishments for your eventual BiS setup:

Arcanoweave Lining Icon Arcanoweave Lining on 2 different items. Early on you can throw this on any piece of crafted gear that accepts it, but eventual BiS will have these on low budget item slots like Bracers and Cloak.

4.2.

Adding Sockets to Gear

You can add sockets to Helmets, Belts, and Bracers with the Radiant Jewelbinder Icon Radiant Jewelbinder consumable that you can get if you do not select any of the choices in your Great Vault. Not picking a choice will grant you tokens, six of which can be traded in for the Radiant Jewelbinder Icon Radiant Jewelbinder item that allows you to add a socket to the above piece of gear, if you acquired them in Season 1.

5.

Crest Usage

Early into a season when you have limited access to crests, such as Myth Dawncrest Icon Myth Dawncrest, it is very important to be spending them in an efficient manner. This will allow you to optimize your early season power as best as possible. The following is a general priority list of what slots have the largest power budget and should be a the priority upgrades with your crests.

Evaluating Upgrades

Throughout this page and elsewhere in our guide, we regularly refer to the importance of simming yourself on Raidbots. This is because every character is unique, and each gear piece you have access to can change what is best right now for you.

While we do offer recommendations for gear and trinkets, these are not complete replacements for simming yourself. The only way to truly optimize your character to that degree is by making use of the tools available!

Icy Veins - For further reading on how to truly maximize your character's potential, check out our guide on Raidbots!
