Survival Hunter DPS Stat Priority — 12.0.5
On this page, you will find out the optimal stat priority for your Survival Hunter. We first present the stat priority, before delving into more complex explanations on how the stats interact with your specialization and gameplay. Our content is updated for World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.5.
Survival Hunter Stat Priority
The stat priority across all builds for Survival Hunter is as follows.
Remember that the less you have of a stat relative to others, the stronger it tends to become. Stat priorities are based on equalizing all stats and looking at how powerfully stats scale from a set point, as well as looking at the highest-simming gear setups for the spec and looking at what stat priority got it there.
Note that for
Pack Leader, Crit and Haste are basically
interchangeable. However, Crit is a lot better for the other 2 Hunter specs,
and is generally easier to find on most gear. Worry more about maximizing
Mastery than about your Crit/Haste ratio.

In-Depth Stat Breakdown
Agility is your primary stat. It provides you with Attack Power, which determines the damage your abilities do across the board.
Mastery, through
Mastery: Spirit Bond increases the damage of
you and your pet, and reduces your damage taken by a flat 3%. Its effect is
doubled while you are within 25 yards of your pet. Increased Mastery will
improve the damage, but not the damage reduction.
Haste increases you and your pet's attack speed and Focus
regeneration, reduces your Global Cooldown from 1.5 seconds to a minimum of
0.75 seconds, and reduces the cooldown on many of your abilities, including
Kill Command.
Critical Strike increases your chance to critically hit with all spells and abilities. Crits deal double damage by default, but several effects can increase your crit damage, and make crits even stronger.
Versatility increases all your damage and healing done, and decreases all damage taken.
Diminishing Returns on Stats
Every stat has a limit where they will begin to offer less increase per point gained, which are known as the points of diminishing return. Once you have reached these amounts, stats will become progressively less valuable and may fall behind other options. The current breakpoints are:
| Stat | 10% DR Rating | 20% DR Rating | 30% DR Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mastery | 1380 | 1840 | 2300 |
| Critical Strike | 1380 | 1840 | 2300 |
| Haste | 1320 | 1760 | 2200 |
| Versatility | 1620 | 2160 | 2700 |
