Protection Paladin Tank Best Gems, Enchants, and Consumables — 12.0.5
On this page, we list the best gems, enchants, flasks, potions, and food you can get for your Protection Paladin, based on your stat priority. We also give budget alternatives. This page is updated for World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.5.
Recommended Gems
You should use a
Indecipherable Eversong Diamond in your first
available gem socket, and fill every other with
Flawless Masterful Peridot. While
there are many other Eversong diamond options and secondary stat gems available, these two
provide the best benefits.

Best Enchants and Weapon Augments
Thalassian Phoenix Oil as
Templar or
Rite of Sanctification as
Lightsmith.

Optimal Consumables
In addition to enchants and improvements to your gear, making sure you come prepared with the right consumables to endgame content has a big impact on your performance.
Flask
Use
Flask of the Shattered Sun as a general-use flask in all content types.
Potions
Light's Potential should be your combat potion of choice.
You should use
Silvermoon Health Potion for in-combat healing.
Healing potions do not share a cooldown with
Healthstones, so you can use both
independently if you can access a Warlock.
Food Buff
Use
Champion's Bento (secondary stat)
as your food buff of choice if a Feast is not available.
If a
Harandar Celebration (primary stat) /
Blooming Feast (secondary
stat) is provided by the group, use them instead. Either are fine.
When deciding what food type to use it would be advisable to sim both options to identify which one is better for you. Primary Stat (Strength) and Highest Secondary Stat options are available for both feasts and personal food buffs.
Augment Rune
In addition, if you can afford it, you should use
Void-Touched Augment Runes to increase your primary stat.
Augment Runes will be expensive until the final Season of the expansion, and disappear on death, so use them wisely!
