Marksmanship Hunter DPS Best Gems, Enchants, and Consumables — 12.0.5
On this page, we list the best gems, enchants, flasks, potions, and food you can get for your Marksmanship Hunter, based on your stat priority. We also give budget alternatives. This page is updated for World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.5.
Recommended Gems
If you have 5+ sockets in your gear, you should use
Powerful Eversong Diamond in one socket. Then, you
should ensure you have one gem of each type in other sockets to max out the
Crit effect, ideally
Flawless Deadly Peridot/
Flawless Deadly Amethyst/
Flawless Deadly Lapis/
Flawless Masterful Garnet. Fill in remaining sockets with
Flawless Masterful Garnet.
If you do not have 5+ sockets in your gear, you should use
Indecipherable Eversong Diamond in one socket, and
Flawless Masterful Garnet in the rest.

Optimal Consumables
Flask
The best flask is generally going to be
Flask of the Shattered Sun. That said, it is best to think of Flasks as just
another piece of gear that is easily swappable, and depending on your exact gear
situation, any of the 4 secondary stat flasks can be optimal. To really minmax
on this point, you would need to simulate it.
Potions
There are two DPS Potions worth considering. Choose wisely, and be honest with yourself!
Light's Potential is a safe option, offering a lot of Primary Stat for
30 sec, to be synced with your cooldowns.
Draught of Rampant Abandon is a high-risk, high-reward option. It
offers ~12% more stats than an ordinary Potion, but it will force you to
move as it constantly spawns void zones beneath your feet. Standing in these
will silence you, easily eliminating the DPS gain from the extra Agility,
but if this is managed properly and doing so is not going to cause you to
mess up your rotation due to focusing on your feet, it is technically the
better Potion. This Potion is a 0.5% - 1% DPS increase when utilized perfectly.
Make sure to carry
Silvermoon Health Potion as well. It has a 5-minute cooldown
and heals most of your health; use it as a last resort, preferring your personal
defensives wherever possible.
Food Buff
The best Food you can eat is from a
Harandar Celebration or
Silvermoon Parade feast. The best
non-feast food is
Hearty Royal Roast. The "Hearty" part is important, as
this food persists through death, and I highly recommend grabbing
Cooking to easily make your own Hearty Food, as it cannot be
straightforwardly purchased on the Auction House.
Augment Rune
The best Augment Rune in Midnight is
Void-Touched Augment Rune, but it might be very expensive to use on every pull or
every dungeon, so use them sparingly unless your wallet is deep.
