Frost Death Knight DPS Best Gems, Enchants, and Consumables — 12.0.5
On this page, we list the best gems, enchants, flasks, potions, and food you can get for your Frost Death Knight, based on your stat priority. We also give budget alternatives. This page is updated for World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.5.
Recommended Gems
We recommend going for
Indecipherable Eversong Diamond as your epic gem and then
Flawless Deadly Amethyst or
Flawless Masterful Garnet as your
non-epic gems, prioritizing the stats that you have the least of on your gear. I.e.
if you already have lots of Critical Strike on your gear, play the gem that provides more
Mastery, and vice versa.

Best Enchants and Weapon Augments
Frost Death Knights can utilize powerful Runeforges on their weapons instead of normal enchants. Choosing the right enchant is crucial for optimizing your DPS. Here are the best enchants for the different viable builds!
Rune of the Fallen Crusader +
Thalassian Phoenix Oil for 2H .
Rune of Razorice +
Thalassian Phoenix Oil for 2H Breathbane.
Rune of Razorice MH +
Rune of the Fallen Crusader +
Thalassian Phoenix Oil for Dual-Wield
Shattering Blade/
Frostbane Builds.
Rune of the Stoneskin Gargoyle MH +
Rune of the Fallen Crusader +
Thalassian Phoenix Oil for Dual-Wield
Breath of Sindragosa builds.
Rune of Razorice MH +
Rune of the Fallen Crusader +
Thalassian Phoenix Oil for Dual-Wield Breathbane Builds.
FAQWhat do the Different Runeforge Enchants Do?
Rune of the Fallen Crusader: The staple Runeforge for Frost Death
Knights, you will always see this Runeforge used in both Mythic+ and Raid
content.
Rune of Razorice: This Runeforge is used for some Dual-Wield builds.
It allows you to gain a lot of benefit from
Shattering Blade.
Rune of Sanguination: Provides a
small execute effect for
Death Strike and a small cheat death mechanic.
This Runeforge has more of a place in PvP as opposed to PvE content.
Rune of Spellwarding: Provides
small defense towards casters, making it more geared towards PvP
situations.
Rune of the Apocalypse: Currently very weak compared to other options,
especially
Rune of the Fallen Crusader.
Rune of the Stoneskin Gargoyle: Solid amount of stats, works well with
Dual-Wield builds.
Rune of Unending Thirst: Commonly used for leveling since it provides
movement speed, Haste, and heals when you kill an enemy.

Optimal Consumables
You can consume a number of different temporary items to increase your power in Dungeons and Raids. Below is a comprehensive overview of everything you want to use!
Flask
You generally want to use either
Flask of the Shattered Sun or
Flask of the Magisters in all content. The choice depends on your current stats,
so if you have lots of Mastery and not much Crit, Shattered Sun is your best option. If
you have lots of Crit and not much Mastery, Magister's is best.
Potions
There are some options for potions that we can use, but we recommend
Light's Potential
as your go-to potion for all content.
Draught of Rampant Abandon provides
slightly more DPS, but has a major negative drawback, occasionally dropping a void
zone under your feet and silencing you.
You should also make sure to keep up a stock of
Silvermoon Health Potion! These healing
potions are great for when you need to quickly heal yourself, helping your healers, and
ensuring that you stay alive.
Food Buff
For Frost Death Knights, food which boosts your main stat is the best option. This
means that you either want to eat a feast such as
Harandar Celebration or
Silvermoon Parade. If your party or raid team does not supply a feast, you can eat
Impossibly Royal Roast or
Royal Roast as an alternative.
Augment Rune
In addition, if you can afford it, you should use
Void-Touched Augment Runes
to increase your primary stat. Augment Runes are expensive and disappear on death,
so use them wisely and sparingly!
